Floor Restoration

Every floor in every home has it’s own special story to tell. Uncovering the historical character of the home and bringing the story to life is what I like most about performing floor restorations.

Floor restoration entails thoroughly sanding down the wood floors, then carefully resealing them in the sheen of your choice: gloss; semi-gloss; or satin.

The first sanding is with coarse grit sandpaper, which removes any old finish and any dirt that may be ground into the wood floors. The second is with a finer grit sandpaper, which removes any scratches put into the floor from the course grit sandpaper, in order to achieve a nice smooth surface. They are then sanded a third time with a super fine grit buffing screen. This sands out any fine scratches that still remain, producing a smooth, even glass-like appearance.

The floors are then swept and vacuumed of any dirt and dust, coated with polyurethane, and allowed to dry for at least eight hours. After that, they are again buffed with a fine grit screen on the buffer and vacuumed, then re-coated for the second time with polyurethane.

This process is repeated for a third and final time, leaving your floor looking the best it can possibly look. The fabulous results will make you the envy of all your neighbors!
